Trip log Page 1:

Dave and Margo's trip to Canada began as we rolled out of the driveway at 3:30am Thursday, July 2nd. We drove that long stretch of Hwy 5, stopping in Sacramento. We drove right to the Convention Center where our friends Don and Josie Shrieve who were watching their daughter, Annie (and Margo's Goddaughter) in a volleyball tournament. We watched the exciting match for the last 20 minutes then sat and caught up on old times. What fun! We stayed for a little over an hour, and were back on the road by 12:30. We drove through the California/Oregon border at 5pm. We liked the little town of Ashland. It seemed to be a beautiful little community on the west side of the freeway, but we still had energy so drove on. Driving through Glendale, Oregon, the sun was to our backs. That beautiful sun shone on the pine laced mountains, casting a palette of greens, browns, limes, yellows and deep blues in the shadows and the rich gold's of the valleys. It was as pretty as any Monet Painting. We finally stopped in Roseburg around 8pm. Dave went out and got chicken for dinner. We went for a swim, ate, then went to bed.

We got back on the road at 4:30am. After a couple of hours of driving we stopped for breakfast. Back on the road we passed many beautiful bridges. We drove through Portland about 8am. The fog was like a soft blanket over the water and the mountain tops. We didn't hit any rain until we passed into Washington. At Tacoma we cut over to Hwy 16 (10am) to Bremerton (where Rhinny used to live) and on to Poulsbo. We arrived at Jim's house and found Wanda, Alex and Dee along with Mom and Al whom had arrived the day before. We immediately left , following Wanda over to Jim's shop at the west end of town. WOW!!! What a place! Jim took Dave and I on a tour. Corporate offices are upstairs along with the design studio and the main conference room. Each work station has it's own computer. All employees work such different hours, that this way no one person has a specific desk. Instead they have a file area where they store their work then they can work at any station. We continued down the stairs to the design center, showroom and work shop. Jim was having a three-day Open House for Steelhead Productions. (His Trade Show and Event Planning, Design and Fulfillment Specialists company he started 4 years ago.) The party was going strong when we got there. Berry Beer, soft drinks, hamburgers and dogs, salads, fruit, vegies, chips and more were all being served. My dear friend Gay, and all the other Steelhead employees knocked themselves out. We chatted with long time family friends Rob and Carol Stetz and their son Kevin. We met all the Steelhead gang, except for Mark who was on a "not to be missed" fishing trip. We returned to Jim's around 4pm. At 6pm we all headed down to the back of Jim's property where he had built a huge firepit. Jim and Rob and Kevin lit the fire (with TWO matches). We all sat around and drank this locally brewed Berry Beer and snacked some more. When it started to rain we all began to head back to the house. The second keg was tapped. The Steelhead group had been putting on a show for the last couple of days, but tonight was their turn to party.

Next morning (Sat.) Dave and I were the first to wake. What else is new? I made coffee and put out some rolls, O.J. and cooked some bacon. As people began to wake, we ate. Dave and I packed and got ready to leave. We said our teary good-byes and took off at 9:30am. We stopped in Bainbridge to say goodbye to Gay and Jillie and were on the ferry by 10:10am. We drove and drove and drove across the whole state of Washington and
